What are benefits of mung bean for health?  Mung beans delight for lovers of vegetarian and nutritional quality in it. Mung beans contain lots of fiber so good for the digestion, vitamin C and vitamin B. Other ingredients are good for the body include protein, high calcium and low in calories.

The following are the benefits of mung beans.

These compounds help act as protection from free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) that play a role in aging and various disease processes.

Zea-xanthin, an important dietary carotenoid in the beans, selectively absorbed into the retinal macula lutea in the eyes where provide antioxidant and protective function of ultra violet rays. Therefore, mung beans offer protection in preventing related macular disease (ARMD) in the elderly.

Source of folates. 100 g nuts provide 37 mg of fresh or 9% of the folates. Folate with vitamin B-12 is one of the important components of the synthesis of DNA and cell division. Mung beans good for pregnant women as it helps prevent neural tube defects-defects in the baby.

Mung beans contains vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), thiamin (vitamin B-1), and vitamin-C. Consuming foods rich in vitamin C helps body develop resistance against infectious agents and protect from free radicals.

Mung bean contain healthy amounts of minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and potassium, which is essential for the body's metabolism. Manganese is a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase, which is a free radical scavengers are very strong. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure.
